Meg Michaelson was granted a Colorado mining permit she didn't want in her divorce. She decided to spend her summer vacation searching for gemstones and minerals, primarily to spite her ex-husband. Things become interesting when Vaughn, a handsome cowboy, arrives to work the neighboring plot. Meg discovers a pocket of gemstones, but then the mountain trembles, and Meg and Vaughn are buried in an avalanche. When they finally escape, they find the world has changed in a strange and terrifying way.
